OVERVIEW

Arab is a Central Semitic language that first emerged in Iron Age northwestern Arabia and is now the lingua franca of the Arab world. It is named after the Arabs, a term initially used to describe peoples living from Mesopotamia in the east to the Anti-Lebanon mountains in the west, in northwestern Arabia, and in the Sinai peninsula.

An Arabic language teacher helps students learn Arabic language while using a language the students already understand as a point of reference. For instance, the teacher would be teaching Arabic to English speaking students by using English as a point of reference to translate from the Arab Language.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Teach skills and knowledge in Arabic language instruction to students utilizing core curriculum and other appropriate learning activities approved by the Board of Education
Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the Arabic language curriculum
Prepare and deliver lessons
Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Devise, write and produce new materials, including audio and visual resources
Prepare and set tests, examination papers and exercises
Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work
Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of Arabic culture of the people of Arab Countries
Attend and contribute to training sessions
Participate in marketing events for the language school
Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records.
Select and requisition books, instructional aids and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records
Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
Any other duties assigned

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

A Bachelor’s Degree or Recognized Certification Arabic Language or

Linguistics or a related field.

TRAINING | COACHING | STUDY REQUIREMENTS

Materials needed to study Arabic include;

Arabic Dictionary

Arabic Instructional Book

Arabic to English (or other) translation book

Arabic Tutorial videos to help in pronounciation and helping reference context of where words are used

Native Fluency or fluency in language of reference.
