OVERVIEW

A Nutritionist teaches clients about the general nutrition and health properties in food and offer nutrition supervision. Some nutritionists are also called food scientists.

Typically, food scientists work for food manufacturers, retailed businesses, or public health promotion. Some nutritionists work as dietitian assistants or food journalists.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Provide health advice that promotes healthy eating
  2. Advise individuals about special diets
  3. Investigate the relationship between genes and nutrients
  4. Studying how diet affects metabolism
  5. Examining the process of nourishment and the association between diet, disease and health
  6. Researching how the body’s functions is affected by nutrient supply
  7. Educating health professionals and the public about nutrition
  8. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team/supporting the work of other health care professionals

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  1. Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Science
  2. Bachelors Degree in Dietetics
  3. Bachelors Degree in Food Science
  4. Or alternatively a Life Sciences Degree that incorporates human Physiology and Biochemistry.
