OVERVIEW
Animation is the technique or process of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement when the film is shown as a sequence. Computer animation is the process of combining the above processes with the aid of a computer to create animation videos. Other definitions term it as the manipulation of electronic images by means of a computer in order to create moving images.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Create storyboards that depict the narrative or script
- Liaise with clients to develop animation from their concepts
- Draw in 2D to create sketches, artwork or illustrations
- Designing models, characters, backgrounds, sets, objects and the animation environment
- Using a range of materials, including modelling clay, plaster, oil paints, water colours and acrylics to execute concept
- Develop the timing and pace of the movements of a character or object during the sequence of images to ensure they follow the soundtrack and audio requirements
- Use technical software packages, such as Flash, 3D Max, Maya, LightWave, Softimage and Cinema 4D
- Build accurate, detailed frame-by-frame visuals
- Record dialogue and work with editors to composite the various layers of animation (backgrounds, special effects, characters and graphics) in order to produce the finished piece
- Work with production deadlines and meeting clients’ commercial requirements
- Work as part of a broader production team, which might include liaising with printers, copywriters, photographers, designers, account executives, website designers or marketing specialists
- Deal with diverse business cultures, delivering presentations and finding funding.

- Certification in Computer animation
- Fine art
- Graphic arts and design
TRAINING | COACHING | STUDY REQUIREMENTS
- Computer or laptop with animation program
- Training to adapt to industry specific animation programs.
